Europe’s Challenge for Freedom of Expression
Rethinking Europe’s role in safeguarding freedom of expression and media
In an era where democratic structures in Europe’s neighbourhood are increasingly threatened by the rise of authoritarian tendencies, can the EU effectively meet the challenges posed to freedom of expression and media?
This panel will discuss the key instruments that the EU can utilize in its relations with the governments of member, candidate and neighbouring countries which have been systematically trying to undermine and erode these freedoms as well as identify Europe’s partners in confronting the downward trend.
You are cordially invited to the panel discussion of “Europe’s Challenge for Freedom of Expression” where prominent panellists and audience will discuss Europe’s role in safeguarding freedom of expression and media.
