The European paper industry is at the forefront of climate mitigation efforts via our renewable forest resources, decarbonised production processes, and responsible products.
- Did you know that our carbon emissions have fallen by 27% since 2005? Primarily by investing in energy efficiency improvements and increasing renewable energy production and use while developing our local economies
- We are also championing recycling, with a 71,6% recycling rate in 2018, and have helped other local industries to stay efficient by providing them with surplus energy in perfect examples of industrial symbiosis.
- Moreover we have been acting as the stewards of the European forests for decades: we help maintain them not only by conducting our trade sustainably but also by having helped set up clear certification mechanisms for their safeguard.
- Finally did you know that clothes can be produced using wood pulp, the material used to create paper? Our industry is flourishing in new innovative ways, providing consumers with products made of forest raw materials that are long-term sustainable.
