Bridging the Digital Divide by 2030: Faster, bolder actions in European towns and cities
The success of an inclusive digital transformation and the reduction of the digital divide will be critical for the success of Europe’s digital agenda and for the cohesion of the European project. The feeling of being “left aside” fuels defiance.
European cities including Bordeaux Métropole, are actively engaged in combatting digital inequalities. This session will voice the concerns of cities over this issue and emphasize the need for stronger support from Europe in addressing this challenge. Cities urgently need the EU’s involvement to establish fast and straightforward multilateral collaborations on this issue.
The session will show what cities are already doing at local level. It will present the reality on the ground, as well as short and long term projections. Cities will explain how, with more direct support from Europe, they could speed and scale up these existing best practices throughout European cities and towns, making a significant difference for millions of Europeans in their daily lives.
