After the February announcement of the 13 shortlisted books, we are delighted to invite you, on behalf of the EUPL Consortium, to the award ceremony of the European Union Prize for Literature. It will take place on 4 April at 7 PM, in the scope of the Brussels Book Fair (Foire du Livre de Bruxelles), on Place de l’Europe (Gare Maritime, at Tour & Taxis).

The countries nominating books in 2024 are Albania, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal Slovenia, Serbia and Tunisia.

The ceremony will be hosted by Belgian author Isabelle Wéry, who won the Prize in 2013.

The proceedings will be opened by Sven Gatz, the Brussels Minister of Finance, Budget, Civil Service, Multilingualism and Dutch-speaking education, representing the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and Normunds Popens, the Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General Education, Youth, Sport and Culture of the European Commission.

The 13 authors will thereafter be asked to read excerpts from the selected works to the audience. The President of the Jury, Ukrainian author Andrey Kurkov, will then announce the outcome of their deliberations. The ceremony will be followed by a reception.

Please register here so that we can organise the ceremony as well as possible and ensure your entry to the Fair.
