Traceability for the EUDR:

Lessons learned from the Brazilian cattle sector and recommendations to the EU

The EU Regulation on deforestation-free products (EUDR) will enter into application in December 2024. Companies will need to undertake due diligence to ensure products linked to deforestation and human rights violations are not placed on the EU market.

Together with policymakers and stakeholders, we want to investigate the must-have criteria for public traceability systems that ensure compliance with the EUDR. The Regulation will affect the meat industry, which is why Brazilian efforts to monitor environmental and social compliance in this sector make for an interesting case study.
