Dear friends, esteemed colleagues,
On Nov. 24-25, 2022, the well-known Kazakh artist and anti-nuclear activist Karipbek Kuyukov, one of the recognized advocates for a world free of nuclear weapons, will make his first visit to Belgium. Taking this opportunity, we would like to invite You to visit his unique exhibition of Mr. Kuyukov in Brussels on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022, 15.00, in the Brussels Press Club.
Due to the negative influence of radiation near the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, the largest military test site of the USSR, Karipbek was born without both arms and from a young age joined the activities of the well-known international anti-nuclear movement “Nevada – Semipalatinsk”. Karipbek is also known as the Honorary Ambassador of The ATOM Project, which was aimed at raising international awareness of the destructive nature of nuclear testing. In this role, he regularly addressed the International Conferences on the Humanitarian Impact of Nuclear Weapons. In addition, his unique paintings, conveying the horrors of nuclear testing and the personal tragedies of victims of nuclear weapons, were presented in many capitals of the world, including the headquarters of the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, as well as in the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Karipbek wants his voice and his call to be heard precisely by those politicians, experts, journalists and activists who are interested in building a world safe from nuclear weapons. His goal is simple – he wants to be the last victim of a nuclear weapon on Earth.
