Missing Connections: Crime-Enabled Terrorist Financing in Europe
We are delighted to invite you to the launch of the latest research paper of the RUSI Europe-led Project CRAAFT – Collaboration, Research and Analysis against the Financing of Terrorism.
The paper “Missing Connections: Crime-Enabled Terrorist Financing in Europe” will be launched in Brussels at the Press Club (Rue Froissart 95) on 26 May 2023 at 14:00.
The interactions between crime and terrorism have been a subject of interest for academics and policymakers for a long time, particularly in the form of the crime-terror nexus. However, these interactions in the EU have remained largely unexplored, especially through the lens of terrorist financing.
In the new paper, RUSI Europe researchers Gonzalo Saiz and Stephen Reimer unpack where and how crime and terrorist financing intersect. The paper’s insights are critical for policymakers to develop a policy response in line with the EU’s distinct counterterrorist financing (CTF) risks.
The launch event on 26 May will bring together experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss the research paper’s findings and implications for EU policymakers, and share ideas on how to tackle crime-enabled terrorist financing in Europe.
