A resounding 95 % Europeans want child safety online across all platforms.
Weeks ahead of the vote in the Council on the proposed Regulation on Child Sexual Abuse, ECPAT International is pleased to invite you to attend the launch of our recent public opinion data on child safety online, next Friday 13th October at 9.00 CEST at Press Club Brussels.
As leading child rights organisations working on eradicating child sexual exploitation, ECPAT International, together with the NSPCC, surveyed over 25,000 adults across 16 European countries to find out ‘what EU citizens really think about the issues of online privacy and the need to ensure child safety online?’. We asked them various questions to assess what they thought of a legal obligation to use technology to detect child sexual abuse materials, how it would affect their online privacy, and what they would like to see as it pertains to protecting children online. In 2021, ECPAT conducted a similar poll, asking EU citizens about their views on child safety online.
As in 2021, 2023 results show unwavering support for child safety online and regulation of online platforms, including in end-to-end encrypted spaces. ECPAT International would be pleased to discuss with you the key findings of our polls and how they relate to the current proposal for a Regulation on Child Sexual Abuse.
The launch will take place on Friday 13th October from 9.00 to 11.00 CEST, at the Press Club Brussels Europe. If you would like to join us, in person or online, please register here and don’t forget to add this event to your calendar: Google calendar / Outlook calendar / Yahoo calendar
