The associations of micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises and mid-caps of Czechia, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal and Spain, representing over 1.5 million enterprises, have joined in the E7 Roundtable.

They will launch the E7 Roundtable’s Manifesto in Brussels on June 27 in an exclusive briefing for the press. They decided to put forward the document in light of the critical factors weakening Europe’s SME ecosystem.

The SME and Mid-Caps of the continent are often referred to as the backbone of the European economy, meaning they are the European Real Economy. This backbone is under a lot of pressure: a top-down, dirigist approach is causing higher production costs and dependency on imports beyond the single market. This approach and its effects constrain the flexibility and innovativeness of European SMEs, not letting them thrive and bring to the market the solutions most fit for consumers.

The E7’s manifesto for a Realistic Industry Policy presents ten key action points that can be implemented across European industrial, environmental, energy, skills, innovation and trade policies to truly support the European Real Economy and act as a springboard for its growth.

The manifesto will be presented in an exclusive press briefing on June 27 at the Brussels Press Club. Mr Maurizio Casasco, President of CONFAPI (Italy), Mr Markus Jerger, Executive Chairman of BVMW (Germany), and Mr Arnaud Vaissié, Vice-President of M-ETI (France), will be attending to present the manifesto and take questions from members of the press.

We look forward to sharing how Europe’s backbone can be preserved.
