Renate Schroeder, Director of the European Federation of Journalists, closely following the EMFA, and Camille Petit, Senior Policy and Communication Officer, closely following the anti-SLAPP directive, are happy to brief you and respond to your questions on behalf of the European Federation of Journalists, representing journalists’ trade unions and professional associations in Europe.

We have been active on both draft texts with major implications for journalists, media outlets, media freedom and democracy in general. We recently voiced our concerns about the positions taken by the Council (here and here), which we see as dangerous moves.

As the next months will be crucial, and ahead of the trilogue negotiations, we are looking forward to discussing with you and experts from civil society organisations  EDRI and EPD these legislations in detail – in particular what is at stake for journalists, the loopholes and the positive elements.

  • When: 6th July, 14:00
  • Where: Press Club Brussels Europe
