Invitation Press Briefing : Unlocking railway data – Present and Future
Wednesday 6 December 2022 – 10.30 – 12.00
Press Club Brussels Europe – Rue Froissart 95, 1000 Brussels
Dear Media Representatives,
The European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) extends a warm invitation to you for our upcoming press briefing, marking the official launch of the innovative Railway Factsheets and presenting how railway data shall be defined and linked in the near future. Join us on Wednesday 6 December 2023, from 10:30 to 12:00 at the Brussels Press Club, Rue Froissart 95, 1000 Brussels.
Agenda: During this press briefing, relevant speakers will shed light on the accomplishments to date and prospects in leveraging the potential of railway data:
- Josef Doppelbauer – ERA Executive Director
- Mitchell van Balen – Economic Evaluation Officer, Analysis Team, ERA
- Christopher Carr – Head of Operational Data Unit, ERA
Join us for a live demo of the Country Railway Factsheets practical tool! And engage in a dynamic discussion on the benefits of ERA’s initiative to unlock data from its registers.
What is the expected impact of this new tool developed by ERA? Empowerment and democratisation of railway data, enabling everybody to retrieve comprehensive insights into the rail sector across European countries, covering transport performance, railway organisations, rolling stock, infrastructure, safety, market structure and more.
Background:
ERA’s mission is to move Europe towards a sustainable and safe railway system without frontiers. It does so through its authority tasks, developing technical specifications for interoperability, and by harmonising and collecting railway data. The Agency collaborates with the railway sector to bring this work forward. The Railway Factsheets and linked data are crucial steps in addressing historical fragmentation in the European railway data landscape, tackling issues such as data gaps, incompatible national definitions, and accessibility barriers that reduce the efficiency of railway operations and complicate policymaking.
Register for the Press briefing today by accessing this link: EUSurvey link, alternatively, please confirm your attendance by sending an email to press@era.europa.eu. Kindly note that due to limited space in the meeting room, we will follow a “first come, first served” policy.
Embark on this transformative journey with us. We are looking forward to meeting you in Brussels on 6 December.
