Ask yourself, what you know about the political situation in Sudan, this country in the North Eastern part of Africa – a country with the same number of population as Ukraine and Canada, all on a territory as big as five European countries together (France, Germany, Poland, Spain, UK).
Whatever your answer will be – it might be the same as most people here in the EU bubble in Brussels: very little.
The “Sudanese Justice & Equality Movement (JEM)” is with its some 35,000 members from various ethnic groups one of the leading movements of Sudan.
JEM was in opposition to the dictatorship of Omar al-Bashir. In close contact to women and youth groups, their aim is a non-military and democratic state that respects the rights of all Sudanese
Five leading JEM members are for a short visit in Brussels for meetings with the EU institutions.
They agreed to hold a press conference: “Sudan – how to overcome the conflict?!”. In case you are tempted to participate in this unique possibility to have a personal exchange with those key players from Sudan, please be invited to this event in the Press Club Brussels Europe.
