In the face of challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and the rise of populism and disinformation across the EU, the need for evidence-based policy instruments and comprehensive policy approaches becomes increasingly apparent. In a complex world, which demands nuanced solutions, the foundation of evidence-informed policymaking relies on fostering trust and effective communication among policymakers, stakeholders, citizens, and the research community.

With the approaching 2024 European elections, our upcoming panel discussion seeks to delve into the pivotal role of scientific evidence in shaping policies. This timely discussion will explore strategies for building trust and assess communication tools and techniques that public affairs professionals can employ to meet the growing demand for evidence from political decision-makers.

The event is particularly significant as it aligns with the proximity of the European Parliament election, coinciding with heightened concerns at the political level regarding democratic participation. Moreover, there is evidence suggesting a disengagement among young people, emphasizing the urgency to address issues of trust and participation in our democratic processes.
