Speakers at this very first comprehensive analysis about what it needs to unlock private capital for social good across Central and Eastern Europe include Anna Athanasopoulou, DG GROW, European Commission; Florian Bauer, Director for Social Finance, Sustainability and Innovation, ERSTE Stiftung; Anna Korzeniewska, Founder and CEO of Social Impact Alliance for Central and Eastern Europe; Atanas Politov, Europe Director for Positive Impact, Dentons; Konrad Siwinski, Head of Research, Social Impact Alliance for Central and Eastern Europe; Hanna Surmatz, Head of Policy, Philea; Fabian Zuleeg, Chief Executive and Chief Economist, European Policy Centre.
This analysis is based on quantitative and qualitative research (7,600 interviews total) that has been conducted between 2020 and 2023 in collaboration with more than 230 key stakeholders and decision-makers from governments, private sector and civil society in 11 EU Member States in Central and Eastern Europe: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Moreover, given that the war in Ukraine has often been the context, catalyst, and driving force for many businesses and individuals to start giving, the quantitative research was expanded to include also the Ukraine.
The report, offering actionable insights to drive positive social impact across the region, was prepared from 3 perspectives:
- Country perspective (11 CEE countries plus Ukraine)
- Target group perspective (Investors, Business, Academia, Public Administration, etc.)
- Knowledge area perspective (SDGs, access to finance, etc.)
