AIRE AGM “Urgent solution needed to solve European infrastructure in crisis”
On the 4th of December 2018, Airlines International Representation in Europe (AIRE) held its Annual General Meeting in Brussels and re-elected Rafal Milczarski, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, and Michael Harrington, CEO of AlbaStar, as President and Vice-President of the Association for another one-year term.
At this occasion AIRE members discussed how Air Traffic Control (ATC) delays affected their operations throughout the past summer 2018 season.
The costs attached to their delayed flights and the consequential expenses in passengers’ rights and compensation have become unsustainable.
AIRE President Rafal Milczarski said:
“The root causes of the problem have been identified. We need urgent solutions to prevent another summer like the last one.”
Sylviane Lust, Director General AIRE added:
“AIRE members call upon the European Commission to prepare for an appropriate economic regulation on airports and to improve the current Single European Sky (SES) regulation in order to correct its shortcomings.”
