A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi and the Centre for Fine Arts (BOZAR) Brussels for cooperation in the field of Culture on 04 February, 2021.
- The MoU was signed in Brussels by H.E. Mr. Santosh Jha, Ambassador of India to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union on behalf of ICCR and Mr. Paul Dujardin, Chief Executive Officer – Artistic Director of BOZAR. In India, the MoU was signed by Mr. Dinesh Patnaik, DG, ICCR and H.E. Mr. François Delhaye, Ambassador of Belgium to India.
- The MoU will facilitate better exchange and understanding of Indian art and culture in Belgium and the European Union and vice versa. It will encourage mutual understanding through cultural, intellectual and artistic exchanges. ICCR and BOZAR will devote special attention to the celebration of the 75th year of India’s Independence, 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of India and the Kingdom of Belgium, and the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between India and the European Union.
- The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), founded in 1950, works to foster and strengthen cultural relations and mutual understanding between India and other countries and to promote cultural exchanges. As Belgium’s oldest and largest house of culture, the Centre for Fine Arts (BOZAR) positions itself as a model for the European cultural institution of the 21st century and combines the running of a dynamic concert and exhibition venue with a supportive multidisciplinary role, reflection and research at the interfaces between art and society. The synergies between the two institutions would add richness and diversity to the cultural scene of the two countries.
