On December 11, 2021, the Caspian Initiative for European Integration and Partnership (CIEIP) held an event concerning global conflicts and peace perspectives in the example of the South Caucasus region at the Brussels Press Club. Young people, mostly students from Europe came together and discussed global peace perspectives. The participants shared their views about past and ongoing conflicts in their countries and compared them with the Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
After the opening speech of the CIEIP coordinators, Administrator, Directorate-General for External Policies, Unit for Eastern Partnership and Russia at European Parliament Mr. Florian Carmona stated that the young generation is the future governor of the world and thanked the CIEIP for bringing young people together and discussing peace perspectives. Mr. Carmona invited youth to be more active and unite by supporting the CIEIP’s initiatives.
The event participants were mainly from the audience of previous online discussion forum about peacebuilding procedures in the postwar period in South Caucasus organized by the CIEIP a month ago. The participants from various countries were invited and awarded prizes for their active participation in the last month’s discussion forum. Five participants were the winners of a peace proposal competition, who won €200 for writing about achieving peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia while other nine winners won the prize of €50 for successfully completing a quiz about the Karabakh conflict.
The CIEIP coordinators Parviz Yarmammad, Orkhan Bashirli, Ingilab Babayev, Nargiz Gambarova, and Javida Rahimova invited the participated winners to conciliate under CIEIP’s framework and the sides agreed on cooperation in the near future. The CIEIP aims to have members representing different regions and maintain the regions’ integration into the EU values.
