Press Release – Reminder
Dear Journalists,
This March 8, 2020, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, and to celebrate its 20 years of action, Femmes Maestros aisbl is organizing a great private concert, with the support of ULB.
The association aims to promote more equal access between women and men conductors, and recognition of the qualities and specific values of the Maestras.
This March 8, 2020, the day will be devoted to the promotion of the talents of women, conductors, but also composers, often relegated or even forgotten in the very masculine universe of classical music.
We therefore invited four major international Maestras to conduct the I Musici Brucellencis Chamber Orchestra in Gustave Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 “Titan”.
Ladies Kanako Abe (Japan), Pascale Jeandroz (France), Nathalie Muspratt (Belgium) and Anna Duczmal-Mròz (Poland) will each lead one of the four movements of this particularly technical and varied symphony.

Then, we will present to you an evocation of the Belgian composer and conductor Juliette Folville (1870 – 1946), by Mme Fauve Bougard, PhD student and researcher at the Musicology laboratory of the Free University of Brussels, and a presentation of associations partners of our event.
The day will end with a whistle from the string trio I Musici Brucellensis who will perform a work by the British composer, Ethel Smyth (1858 – 1944).
