Dear readers,
Autumn has been a productive period for the EBA.
On 25-26 October we welcomed many of you in Brussels at the European Biogas Conference 2022. Our fully sold-out event was marked by an extraordinary level of commitment from the biogas and biomethane value chain to achieve the REPowerEU target for biomethane (35 bcm a year by 2030) and to do so sustainably.
We are also pleased to announce that the European Biomethane Industrial Partnership (BIP), aimed to help the EU reach the target of 35bcm, was officially launched on 28 September in presence of the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans and the EU Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson. We kicked-off the technical work of the BIP at the European Biogas Conference, this time with the EU Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski. Now we look forward to cooperating with you within one of the BIP’s Task Forces!
We invite you to mark your calendars for the launch of 2022 edition of the EBA Statistical Report on 7 December. As each year, we will provide an in-depth overview of the state of the biogas and biomethane market in Europe, as well as profiles of 24 European countries. In addition, we are expanding the content of the Report with a chapter dedicated to the data on the production and use of digestate. Stay tuned for more details about the launch webinar!
Finally, we are happy to report that the EBA community is growing – only within last two months we were joined by 14 companies. In order to serve the needs of our growing membership even better, we decided to update the structure of the EBA Working Groups – you can find more details below.
We wish you enjoyable reading of this edition of the Green Gas Wire!
