The EPP Group demands that the European Commission puts forward a massive recovery and reconstruction package financed by an increase of the long-term EU budget that includes new types of revenue. The EPP Group will not accept a budget without parliamentary control. “The next long-term EU budget must be able to respond to current challenges and prepare our Union for the future,” insisted Siegfried Mureşan MEP, Vice-Chairman of the EPP Group responsible for Budgetary Affairs. The European Commission is expected to submit a proposal for the next long-term EU budget and the Recovery Fund on 27 May.
