Georgia: attack on the TV anchor Vakho Sanaia

We, at the Press Club Brussels Europe and Press Club Tbilisi Europe strongly condemn the attack on the TV anchor Vakho Sanaia and his family members. We call on the Georgian authorities to take the strictest measures against the rapists.  We will closely monitor developments around this flagrant act of violence and will do our utmost to protect the interests of journalist Vakho Sanaia.  We state with great regret that such aggression against representatives of critical media is an annoying sign of extreme confrontation and polarisation in Georgian society, which, in our opinion, is the responsibility of the authorities first of all, contradicts the interests of Georgia and its declared intentions of integration with the European Union.
