Brussels, 15 February 2018 – On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Karabakh Movement, when the people of Nagorno-Karabakh appealed to the Soviet authorities to exercise their right to unification with Armenia, European Friends of Armenia (EuFoA) and AGBU Europe are pleased to invite you to attend the event ‘Nagorno-Karabakh & the EU:1988-2018. Taking stock of 30 years of EU policy on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict”.
Building on the European Parliament’s institutional memory of the conflict, triggered by events in February 1988, at the time when Armenia, Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh were part of the Soviet Union, two panels of parliamentarians and other experts will: provide their testimonies on how the European Parliament regarded the crisis between February 1988 and May 1991; critically examine the EU’s current policy on the matter; and discuss a range of recommendations to help build confidence and promote peace-building between the peoples of Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan.
