Impact investing: the state of play among Belgian impact investors |
Impact investment is not (just) about being sensitive to the financial return on capital; it also seeks to have an impact on society. The King Baudouin Foundation, which itself has taken its first steps in this field, is following with great care developments in the growing activity of impact investment in developing countries.
Following an initial study in 2016, the Foundation has conducted a new mapping of Belgian impact investors. Who are these investors, what is their profile and their sensitivity to risk, in which sectors are they investing and what obstacles are they confronting? The new research was conducted via interviews with actors from 11 identified investors, which together represent a portfolio of almost 750 million euros, and covered the characteristics, trends and challenges for the sector. The investors were both varied and complementary and their priorities did not always coincide with those of Belgian cooperation in development. You can find the link below to a ZOOM that summarises the key findings from the research. The complete report can also be obtained upon request. |
