“Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. Individually, we are all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.
We can break the bias in our communities. We can break the bias in our workplaces. We can break the bias in our schools, colleges and universities”. This is what the International Women’s Day 2022 Global movement is all about. WeBalkans Young European Ambassadors network, supported by the EU Info Offices and Houses in the Western Balkans, are joining the initiative with a unique creative street action, which will gather girls and women from our towns to have their say.
The activity is devoted to the celebration of women and their identity in the Western Balkan region, and will be happening in all Western Balkans capital cities and other towns on the same day, at the same time.
We would like to invite you to join us on 8 March 2022 in Tirana, Skopje, Kumanovo, Pristina, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis.
The WeBalkans Young European Ambassadors network was launched in August 2020 by a Regional communication programme for the Western Balkans, represented by the European Commission Directorate- General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), as a creative network of future young game changers from across the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia). Now already known among youth all over the region as ‘YEAs’, these 120 visionary young people are interested in learning about EU values, and promoting the opportunities that the EU offers, but are also eager to share and advocate for different topics such as gender equality, intercultural learning, joint regional youth initiatives, environment protection, human rights etc. The project’s website is www.webalkans.eu
For more information please follow us at @webalkans.eu on IG, FB and TW channels and EU info offices and houses in the Western Balkans.
Together we can forge gender equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.
