EVENT:

Please join us on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, for a telephonic press briefing with Vice Admiral Andrew Lewis, Commander, U.S. Second Fleet and Joint Forces Command Norfolk.  Vice Admiral Lewis will discuss the reestablishment of Second Fleet and planning discussions this week with European partners on the 47th annual exercise Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) 2019, which will mark Second Fleet’s first time operating in the European theater since its reestablishment in 2018.

The exercise, in which 18 NATO and partner nations are scheduled to participate, will take place throughout the Baltic Region in mid-June 2019.  Designed to enhance flexibility and interoperability and demonstrate resolve among NATO and partner forces to defend the Baltic region, BALTOPS 2019 will involve maritime
