EVENT:

Please join us on Friday, June 07, 2019, for a telephonic press briefing with Admiral Karl L. Schultz, Commandant of the Coast Guard, U.S. Department of Homeland Security.  Admiral Schultz will discuss his travel to France for the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy.  The U.S. Coast Guard played a pivotal role in the invasion of Normandy by landing allied troops on the beaches of France and helped reclaim the Port of Cherbourg.  Admiral Schultz will also provide a briefing on his visit to the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Barque Eagle, which was constructed by German engineers and seized as a war reparation at the conclusion of WWII.  The ship is currently in Europe for the D-Day anniversary events.

U.S. Coast Guard men and women continue to serve around the world alongside their European allies, including in the Caribbean Sea, off the African coast, and the Middle East.  Following a brief introduction, Admiral Schultz will take questions from participating journalists.
