The Asia-Pacific Media Hub will host a telephonic briefing on Wednesday, May 20 at 7pm Manila (7am Wash DC) with: Department of State’s Keith Krach, Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment; Cordell Hull, Acting Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security; Dr. Christopher Ford, Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Nonproliferation; and Ian Steff, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets.
During the call, Under Secretary Krach and Assistant Secretary Steff will discuss the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation’s (TSMC) plan to invest $12 billion in the United States. Acting Under Secretary Hull and Assistant Secretary Ford will discuss the expansion of the foreign direct product rule to prevent the Chinese Communist Party from circumventing U.S. export controls.
