High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell will travel to Poland from 30 November to 2 December, to represent the European Union at the annual OSCE Ministerial Council in Łódź on Wednesday and Thursday. He will also visit the recently launched EU Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM) for Ukraine at the military facility Brzeg near Wroclaw on Friday.
On Wednesday evening, the High Representative will take part in the dinner to exchange on the state of play at the OSCE in the current geopolitical situation. He will express EU’s support to the role of the OSCE with regards to European security and underscore the need to ensure respect for commitments taken in the OSCE framework.
On Thursday, High Representative Borrell will deliver a Statement on behalf of the European Union at the plenary meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council as well as participate in the lunch discussion. In the afternoon, HR/VP Borrell will attend the side event “Joint Actions for Ending Russia’s Impunity and Delivering Justice for Victims”, organised by Ukraine, focused on ensuring the accountability for international war crimes committed by Russia.
He will also hold a number of bilateral meetings with counterparts in the margin of the OSCE Ministerial Council. High Representative Borrell will then travel to Warsaw, where he will meet with Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Defence Mariusz Błaszczak. He will then deliver a keynote speech on “Winning the War, Securing the Peace: EU support for Ukraine” followed by a panel discussion at the Polish Institute of International Affairs. On Friday morning, High Representative Borrell will visit the military training site of the newly launched EU Military Assistance Mission for Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) in Brzeg, where he will attend the training of members of the Ukrainian army and address the staff of the Mission and the Ukrainian soldiers.
