General information on the summit of Mayors:
The 24th and 25th of September the City of Brussels will be hosting the 7th edition of the Direct Dialogue between Capitals Mayors and the European Commission. Please find enclosed the program of the two-day event that will take place at the City hall of Brussels.
The Mayors (or a deputy-mayor) of the 28 European capital cities will meet to discuss their views on European policies with the European Commission. A Common declaration of the Mayors is being prepared in view of those discussions and will be communicated during the summit. The agenda will include the following themes:
- The need for more public investments in Europe
- The future of the European Cohesion policy and the ongoing discussions on the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2021-2027
- A state of play on the Urban agenda of the EU
Confirmed attendances include:
- The Mayors of Brussels, Madrid, Luxemburg, Vienna, Warsaw, Nicosia, Amsterdam, Sofia, Zagreb, Rome, Riga, Athens … (the full list of confirmed attendances will be available by the 14th of September)
- European Commissioner Corina Creţu and Vice-President Jyrki Katainen
- The Presidents of the Committee of the Regions, Eurocities and the CCRE

From 12h45 to 13h15 a press conference + Q&A with a select group of mayors and Commissioner Corina Creţu
From 13h15 to 14h00 all Mayors and deputy-mayors are present and available for bilateral interviews
