REPowering the EU with Hydrogen Valleys (roadmap)

Hydrogen Europe is thrilled to announce the release of its latest position paper: “REPowering the EU with Hydrogen Valleys (roadmap).” In the document, Hydrogen Europe welcomes the decision from the European Commission to draft a Roadmap on Hydrogen Valleys, which will support the achievement of the target set in the REPower EU plan of doubling the number of Hydrogen Valleys in the European Union by 2025.

The association encourages to keep working in the deployment of Hydrogen Valleys, underlining the needs of:

• increasing awareness of the concept in the European Union and extending it to a global scale;
• simplifying the related legislative and funding processes; 
• facilitating targeted funding for the development of skills and of synergies between projects; and
• scaling up and connecting hydrogen valleys with other major hydrogen projects.

Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, CEO of Hydrogen Europe, said: “Hydrogen Valleys can be strong demonstrations of the business case of hydrogen, in widely different settings and contexts. It is essential to facilitate their deployment as much as possible, contributing to the wider acceptance of hydrogen technologies. H2 Valleys are “mini-hydrogen ecosystems” with a strong potential to speed up the development of the hydrogen sector in the EU.”
