Statement of the Rohingya Observatory for Human Rights
On the secret agreement between the Government of Myanmar and the United Nations Commission on the Rights of the Rohingya
According to the Reuters news agency, a secret agreement is currently under way between the United Nations and Myanmar on the Rohingya issue and the return of Rohingya refugees who have fled the genocide and ethnic cleansing to Bangladesh. The memorandum of understanding, which is lack of the subject of citizenship, The movement outside the borders of Arakan State or the amendment of the laws and regulations that currently prevent Rohingya from moving freely.
The Rohingya Observatory for Human Rights therefore expresses its deep disapproval and deep concern over the loss of the human and civil rights of the Rohingyas under this MoU, the UN was supposed to be a reliable pillar for Rohingya rights, which draws the attention of the Rohingya Observatory for Human Rights on a number of important elements in the agreements on the return of Rohingya to their:
Firstly, the leak of such flagrant action by the world’s highest juridical body reinforces the power of the Myanmar regime, which has – and continues – the genocide and ethnic cleansing of an unarmed people for seven decades and gives the green light to the Government of Myanmar and the Myanmar army to continue to violate civil rights and freedoms as the world continues to guarantee the Rohingyas to search for a solution about their worsening situation.
Secondly, this leak shocked all Rohingyas and all the human rights organizations that are working to restore the rights of these oppressed people.
This leak confirms the double standards practiced by the United Nations against certain oppressed minorities and peoples and the interests and agendas that do not achieve peace, justice, freedom, and equality for the people of the land.
Thirdly, the government of Myanmar and the accused generals of the army who have committed terrible violations against the Rohingya during the last two years 2016 – 2017 manipulated the issue of Rohingya and the return of refugees also guarantees required to repatriate, perhaps this infusion suggests the behavior of the government and the army by taking illegal routes with international parties to evade their responsibilities and impunity of punishment for serious atrocities committed by members of the Myanmar army.
Fourth, the Rohingya Observatory for Human Rights calls on all countries and human rights organizations to follow up and monitor the ramifications of the Rohingya cause and to follow up the efforts of the United Nations and all its parties which work for the establishment of rights and freedoms and to actively participate in the call to return the usurped fundamental of the rights of the Rohingya minority in Myanmar.
We also call upon the world to continue to press the Government of Myanmar and to beware of its tricks, which have begun to unfold in front of the world.
