The EPA is going virtual for the 28th European Congress of Psychiatry
Revised scientific programme to include multi-field perspectives on the ongoing Covid-19 crisis Clinicians, researchers and students of psychiatry, as well as relevant stakeholders in the field of mental health, will soon join each other online to discuss relevant research updates, debate topics of importance, and exchange ideas for best practice with fellow practitioners and professionals from around the world. This year’s Congress will also include events, symposia and courses on the topic of Covid-19 and its impact on mental health and healthcare settings.
WHAT: The European Psychiatric Association (EPA) will hold its 28th European Congress of Psychiatry under the motto “The Shared Heritage of European Psychiatry”. The virtual Congress will be preceded by the 6th annual EPA Forum, where actors from European organisations and policy makers will discuss the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the interactions of mental health workforces.
WHO: The annual Congress, hosted by the EPA, will go virtual for the first time ever with the participation of expert clinicians, researchers, and representatives of stakeholder organisations in the field of psychiatry and mental health.
WHY: The European Congress of Psychiatry reaches between 3,000 and 4,000 participants around the world annually, giving mental health professionals the opportunity to discuss important advances in the various fields, to learn more about mental health policy and research at local, national and European levels, and to exchange valuable clinical perspectives.
This year especially during a global public health crisis, a multi-stakeholder perspective on mental health is and will remain a key element in coping with emergency situations and ensuring the overall wellbeing of populations across the globe. In addition to maintaining a high scientific standard for the general congress programme, the event content has been revised to address recent concerns of mental health professionals related to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
WHEN: The global, virtual event will take place from Saturday 4 to Tuesday 7 July 2020. The scientific programme and activities of the 28th European Congress of Psychiatry can be found here.
WHERE: The EPA Congress 2020 will be held virtually and streamed online through an online event platform developed specifically for the EPA.
