BACKGROUND: NATO Defense Ministers – including U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper – will convene virtually to discuss new NATO measures to counter the pandemic on Wednesday, April 15. Ambassador Hutchison will preview this extraordinary session and discuss how the United States and our NATO Allies are banding together to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and counter disinformation about the virus. The meeting of defense ministers follows a similar meeting of NATO foreign ministers (including Secretary of State Pompeo).
