From June 14-16, 2025, the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Kingdom of Belgium invites the public in Brussels to an exceptional cultural weekend dedicated to theater, literature and identity. The events mark a vibrant celebration of Moldovan and Romanian heritage in the heart of Europe, which is organized in partnership with the Romanian Embassy in the Kingdom of Belgium and the Free University of Brussels ULB. The celebration takes place within the framework of the Mihai Eminescu Year, marking 175 years since the emergence of the poetic genius, whose legacy continues to inspire generations.
The event will take place at the Maison de Arts, 56 Avenue Jeanne, 1050 Brussels.
Highlight: “The Glass Garden” – a story about memory, motherhood and identity
The central event of the program is the theatrical performance ”The Glass Garden”, presented by the National Theatre ”Mihai Eminescu” from Chișinău, directed by Petru Hadârcă – a leading personality of the Romanian and European theatre scene.

The performance is a stage adaptation of the multi-award-winning novel by Tatiana Țîbuleac, winner of the European Union Prize for Literature. With profound poetic power, the play tells the story of the orphaned Lastocika, growing up in post-Soviet Chisinau – a sensitive meditation on trauma, memory and the reconstruction of the self.
“The Glass Garden” is part of the international tour ”The Theatre that Unites Us”, supported by the Moldovan Government and realized in partnership with European cultural institutions. The show is performed in Romanian, with English and French subtitles to ensure accessibility for international audiences.
