“My Voice, My Choice”
Submission of 1 million Signatures for Accessible Abortion to the European Commission

The My Voice, My Choice movement invites members of the press to a landmark press conference marking a historic moment in the fight for reproductive rights in Europe. The movement is about to submit the “My Voice, My Choice: for Safe and Accessible” European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) together with more than 1 million signatures. This will mark the start of the official process of consideration of the initiative in the European institutions.
In April, we closed our ECI signature collection with over 1,200,000 signatures in support of safe and accessible abortion in Europe. During the collection that took place all over Europe we built an inclusive community that created the largest feminist movement in Europe. While national verification processes are still underway, it is now evident that we have surpassed both the overall and national thresholds required.
On September 1st, we will officially submit all verified signatures to the European Commission, launching the formal institutional process for our initiative. This will lead to a meeting with Commissioner for Equality Hadja Lahbib in the month following submission, a public hearing in the European Parliament within the next three months and an official response to the initiative by the Commission that will outline what action the EU will take.
