My Voice, My Choice – Following the submission of officially verified 1.1 million signatures for safe and accessible abortion,
the My Voice, My Choice movement met with the European Commission.
The My Voice, My Choice movement invites members of the press to a landmark press conference following its meeting with the European Commission. This meeting is part of the official process of the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI), following the submission of more than 1.1 million signatures from across EU member states in support of safe and accessible abortion.
For the first time, the European Commission will be presented with a request to adopt legislation that would financially support member states in ensuring safe abortion access for everyone in Europe who still lacks access. The Commission is expected to provide an official response by the end of February 2026, outlining the measures it will take.
At the press conference, we will:
– Share the outcomes of the meeting,
– Highlight the urgency of the situation, as more than 20 million women in the EU still lack access to safe abortion, and
– Present a call to action from organizations across Europe, adopted on 28 September, International Safe Abortion Day.
