As the European Head of State Council gathers on 19 and 20 March to agree the ‘One Europe, one market’ roadmap in which the agenda to dismantle health, social, data and environmental protections will be shaped further through a roadmap with milestones and timelines, it is up to us to put those plans in perspective and illustrate how these seemingly technocratic plans negatively impact European citizens.

Whilst the dominant discussion evolves around laws and regulations, we want to make sure that citizens who are living with the real-life consequences of toxic environments, unsafe working conditions and data violations are given a voice, as the European’s mission to destroy laws is not a technocratic exercise but a threat with disastrous real-life consequences for all of us.

We are hosting a press event ahead of the publication of the proposal to break down how citizens will be affected by the EU’s agenda that evolves around dismantling the protections for workers, health and our life online.

The press event will feature short presentations and Q&As:

9:00 – 9:10 Introduction and political framework by Matilda Flemming, FoEE director

9.05 – 9.10 Ella Jakubowska, European Digital Rights (EDRi) on how the digital omnibus will weaken the European Digital Rulebook

9.15 – 9.20 Dries Meuret on health issues caused by PFAS contamination

9.20 – 9.25 Bart Deceukelier, ACV-CSC, on workers rights in construction and subcontracting issues

9:25 – 9:30 Leandra, youth digital rights activist on the use of her personal data by Meta to train its AI

We hope you can join us.

Co-hosted by European Digital Rights (EDRi), and Friends of the Earth Europe
