What will the EU ETS revision mean for maritime decarbonisation? Join SEA-LNG in Brussels to discuss the headwinds and opportunities.
The revision of the EU ETS, and its interaction with the maritime MRV and FuelEU Maritime frameworks, will shape how emissions are priced, measured and supported across the sector. The debate raises questions about the recognition of emissions reductions, the use of maritime ETS revenues, the proposed SMAP mechanism, renewable and low-carbon fuels, competitiveness and possible future IMO measures.
This event will take the form of a moderated roundtable rather than a conventional panel. SEA-LNG will explore up to five amendments or policy issues it considers particularly significant, and invite participants to discuss their implications and exchange views.
Francesco Casagrande, CEO and Co-Founder of MEP Analytics, will join the discussion to provide expert insights into the parliamentary debate and proposed amendments to the EU ETS, and their potential implications for maritime decarbonisation.
The discussion will consider:
- The principal political fault lines in the EU ETS debate for maritime decarbonisation.
- The headwinds and opportunities the revised framework may create for investment and fuel uptake.
- The implications of selected amendments or policy issues for emissions recognition, ETS revenues and competitiveness.
- Areas of alignment, disagreement and outstanding questions among stakeholders.
Attendance will be limited to support a focused discussion.
