PRESS CONFERENCE ON THE NEW BOOK:

“The ABC of the United Nations General Assembly: Navigating Global Challenges in a Fragmented World”

by Simon Pascal Alain Handy
(Cited by Barnes & Noble among the Best Books of 2024 so far)

Discussion Points:

Role of Europe, Africa, & America Against Rising Competing Blocs

Join Simon Pascal Alain Handy, author and global affairs specialist, and former United Nations Strategic & Political Advisor, as he delves into his latest book, “The ABC of the United Nations General Assembly: Navigating Global Challenges in a Fragmented World.” Recognized as one of the best books of 2024 by Barnes & Noble, this must-read offers a comprehensive analysis of the emerging geopolitical landscape and the evolving role of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Deemed the “New Gospel” by the UN General Assembly—reconnecting with “lost fact” the first meeting of the UNGA at the Methodist Central Hall, Westminster, London in 1946—Mr. Handy’s seminal book offers concrete solutions to intractable challenges. He posits that the UNGA is poised to grow and increase its scope and power as the Security Council remains mired in paralysis and suffers from a deepening representational gap and democracy deficit, being unwilling to reform.
