Coffee and pastries from 9.00 am; discussion from 9.15 am to 10.15 am.
Australia’s eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant will bring one of the defining policy challenges of our time into sharp focus on 12 November in Brussels, in a discussion exploring increasingly worrying trends online—and the profound real-world impacts for children, families and societies.
Australia was the first country in the world to establish a dedicated independent online safety regulator and remains at the forefront of global efforts to address online harms. Over the past decade, Commissioner Inman Grant has been a driving force behind this pioneering approach and has become an internationally recognised advocate for a safer online environment.
Commissioner Inman Grant will be interviewed in a fireside-chat format by MEP Veronika Cifrová Ostrihoňová, a former journalist and leading voice on online safety in the European Parliament. Drawing on her journalistic background and engagement with Europe’s evolving online safety agenda, MEP Cifrová Ostrihoňová will bring valuable European insights and a sharp interviewer’s perspective to the conversation. The discussion will be followed by audience Q&A.
With Commissioner Inman Grant’s term due to conclude in early 2027, this will be a rare—and likely final—opportunity for Brussels audiences to hear from her in her current role. She will reflect on her experience driving Australia’s world-leading approach to online safety and opportunities for international cooperation, against the backdrop of ongoing European discussions on protecting children online, including the proposed EU KIDs Act.
The event will be on the record. Places are limited and registration will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.
