Rue Froissart 95 – 1040 Brussels

The European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM), part of the Council of Europe and a cornerstone of the continent’s public health and regulatory landscape, is celebrating 60 years of pioneering work safeguarding the health of millions of people across Europe and beyond.

Simultaneously, the EDQM and the European Union (EU) are strengthening their comprehensive and long-standing collaboration, covering medicines and substances for human origin. The importance that the EU is attaching to EDQM’s work is also demonstrated by the fact that it is referenced as an expert body, alongside the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), within the EU’s new legislation on blood, tissues, and cells.

Join us for a public presentation and discussion to shine a spotlight on the EDQM’s crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of medicines and substances of human origin as well as its work to address current public health and societal challenges such as shortages of medicines, the falsification of medicines, and plasma self-sufficiency. We will also discuss EDQM’s unique and complementary relationship with the EU and its agencies.
