The Brussels branch of the association “Giuliani nel Mondo” will hold on Tuesday 26 November at 18:30 a conference in Italian on “Nova Gorica – Gorizia 2025 European capital of culture” held by Professor Marina Bressan.
In her speech, Prof. Bressan will give an historical perspective of the territory of Nova Gorica and Gorizia pointing out that, in spite of nationalism and borders raised during the 20th century, the continuous exchanges between the two sides of the same city have proved a willingness of their people for unity. With the accession of Slovenia into the EU and Schengen area, an important milestone in the rapprochement between the two cities was achieved, as the border controls dividing the cities were removed.
The award 2025 European capital of culture finally gives back to both cities the status of one city, a truly European capital. After the conference, the exhibition “In the heart of places” with pictures of photographer Ms Gabriella Tomat of both cities Nova Gorica and Gorizia will be inaugurated.
