Meet, greet, and exchange – Calling all energy, transport, and transport professionals!

Please join us on Thursday, 9th of April 2026, from 08:00 to 09:30 AM at the Press Club Brussels Europe for our next Energy Breakfast.

The theme of the discussion will be: Delivering Europe’s Bio-Methane Ambitions.

In the context of the European Union’s objective to reach 35 billion cubic metres of bio-methane production per year by 2030, this Energy Breakfast will examine what is required to translate ambition into delivery, particularly within the maritime sector.

While the policy framework continues to evolve at the EU level, production and deployment remain significantly below the trajectory needed to meet the 2030 target. For shipping, bio-methane represents a scalable and available solution capable of delivering immediate greenhouse gas reductions within the existing LNG infrastructure and fleet. The question is no longer whether bio-methane can contribute, but how rapidly supply chains, certification systems, cross-border trade and long-term off-take structures can be strengthened to unlock scale.

This session will bring together policymakers, shipowners, ports, fuel suppliers and financial stakeholders to explore:

  • The gap between current production levels and the 2030 target, and what this means for maritime demand.
  • Regulatory enablers and remaining barriers under the evolving EU framework
  • Investment signals, long-term contracts and risk-sharing mechanisms needed to accelerate supply
  • The role of maritime demand aggregation in underpinning European bio-methane markets

As Europe seeks to reconcile industrial competitiveness, energy security and decarbonisation, bio-methane sits at the intersection of these priorities. Ensuring sufficient scale and availability will require coordinated action across the value chain.

This Energy Breakfast will provide a forum for structured discussion, the exchange of perspectives, and the identification of practical pathways to accelerate the deployment of bio-methane within and beyond European maritime operations.

About SEA-LNG:

SEA-LNG is a multi-sector industry coalition promoting Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as a viable and sustainable marine fuel for the shipping industry. The coalition believes LNG, including future e-LNG (produced from renewable electricity), offers a pragmatic and immediate pathway to reduce emissions and reach net-zero goals.
