Europe in Transition: Politics, Geopolitics and the Changing Media Landscape
In Conversation with Dave Keating, Brussels Correspondent for France 24 and author of The Owned Continent
Europe’s political and geopolitical environment is shifting, while its media landscape is evolving rapidly. What do these changes mean for journalists reporting on European affairs?
The EU Journalism Initiative (EUJI) will host a conversation with veteran journalist Dave Keating, who has covered EU politics for 20 years.
The discussion will explore how journalists can navigate Europe’s increasingly complex political and geopolitical dynamics, including the priorities emerging from Ursula von der Leyen’s State of the Union address and the impact of social media, algorithms and AI on newsrooms.
Drawing on his book The Owned Continent, Keating will also discuss European strategic autonomy and the changing relationship with the United States, including NATO, defence and the influence of Big Tech, and what these shifts mean for journalists covering transatlantic relations.
Hosted by the EU Journalism Initiative (EUJI), an independent, journalist-led hub supporting professional development, knowledge exchange and community for journalists covering Europe.
