Launch of Amnesty International’s The State of the World’s Human Rights Report 2024/25

On Monday 28 April 2025, Amnesty International will hold an embargoed global press conference in Brussels ahead of the launch of The State of the World’s Human Rights, its annual report on the global human rights situation.

The report will be published on Tuesday 29 April 2025. Covering 150 countries and including regional and global analyses, it provides the most comprehensive overview of human rights trends and developments in the world today.

Speakers

Agnès Callamard: Secretary General, Amnesty International

Deprose Muchena: Senior Director, Regional Human Rights Impact, Amnesty International

Carine Thibaut: Directrice Générale à Amnesty Belgique Francophone

Speakers will address the creep of authoritarian practices and vicious clampdowns on dissent around the world, catastrophic escalations of armed conflict, and how global failures to address inequalities, climate collapse, and tech transformations are imperilling future generations. They will also discuss how the Trump administration has accelerated many of these harmful, deep-rooted trends throughout President Trump’s first 100 days in office, gutting international human rights protections and endangering billions across the planet.
