On the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine. Bombings, rocket fire, soon followed by the murder of civilians, the raping of women, the kidnapping of Ukrainian children and their deportation to a country ruled by Vladimir Putin for the past 25 years.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Polish photographers have made up the largest group of foreign war correspondents. It is their photos that appear in the media all over the world. They are on the front lines, in destroyed towns and villages, accompanying soldiers and ordinary people. They document their struggle and suffering during this unprovoked, already more than a thousand-day-long defense of their country and freedom. They are the eyes of war; they are our eyes
