The new Caritas CARES! poverty report presents findings from Caritas organisations around Europe on the current state of play of national minimum income systems.
Caritas Europa invites you to the launch of its Caritas CARES! European poverty report on minimum income. The event will present the findings and recommendations in the report, which makes an analysis of the current state of play of national minimum income systems. The report identifies areas for improvement and potential EU action to ensure the quality of minimum income systems and their effective impact on reducing poverty in Europe.
With the EU’s 2026 anti-poverty strategy on the horizon, this report emphasises the need for minimum income systems that provide genuine pathways out of poverty. The report identifies areas where national systems fall short, especially in their ability to support those who need it most, and calls for urgent reforms that would make minimum income systems not just a safety net, but a vehicle for dignity and opportunity.
Join policymakers, civil society representatives and Caritas member organisations from across Europe in this important conversation on how to build stronger, more effective social safety nets. The event will present insights from the report, followed by a panel discussion with key stakeholders.
Caritas experts from member organisations will be available for interviews following the event to provide additional insights into the report’s findings and the potential policy impacts.
