Caribbean Days 2024 officially opened at the Renaissance Brussels

Brussels, 18th June 2024 – The official opening of the second edition of the Caribbean Days was held at the Renaissance Brussels Hotel and officiated by H.E. Ambassador Collin Connelly of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago in the presence of H.E. Ambassador Patrick Hermann, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium for the Americas & Caribbean and the CARIFORUM Group of Ambassadors at Brussels (GCAB).

The Caribbean Days is an annual event organised by the Caribbean Chamber of Commerce in Europe (CCCE) as a series of business and cultural events to showcase ‘The Best of the Caribbean’. The primary feature of this event is a Caribbean Culinary Week and several trade workshops, promoting premium Caribbean products, such as rum, coffee and cocoa, as well as creative industries, such as art and cuisine, literature and poetry, music and dance.

For the Caribbean Culinary Week, award-winning celebrity Chef Orlando, who flew in from St. Lucia, is preparing a special 4-course Caribbean Gourmet Menu, which is served at The Poet restaurant of the Renaissance Brussels. This is a unique opportunity to experience the finest Caribbean cuisine at the special rate of Fifty Nine Euros (€59), which includes a tropical welcome cocktail, until Sunday evening, 23rd June 2024.

The Caribbean Days started off on Monday, 17th June with the Union of Belgium’s Bartenders (UBB) National Bartenders Competition, with winner Larry Godefroid participating in the World Championships organised by the International Bartenders Association (IBA) later this year.

On Thursday, June 20th June a special Caribbean Poetry & Cocktail Workshop will be organised to honour some of the Nobel Prize winning writers from the Region. Prof. Bénédicte Ledent of the University of Liège will conduct a special reading of excerpts from the works being displayed.

On Friday, 21st June a special Live Musical Evening will be held at The Poet to celebrate the Fête de la Musique; while on Saturday, 22nd June the first Caribbean Gala Dinner & Dance will take place at the Renaissance Brussels Ballroom; before closing on Sunday, 23rd of June with the National Latin Dance Competition & Workshops organised by BeSalsa.be.

Furthermore, all participants of the Caribbean Days, visitors and guests of The Renaissance Brussels can take part in a special Caribbean Competition to win fabulous prizes, including a week’s holiday to the Dominican Republic and a Caribbean cruise with Star Clippers, as well as free weekend tickets to the Europe’s biggest Caribbean Music Festival, Antilliaanse Feesten.
