Event to Support Ukraine’s Case Against Russia at the UN International Court of Justice

18 September 2023, 17:30-18:30, Monument A La Gloire De L’infanterie Belge

Brussels, Belgium – On September 18, 2023, a pivotal moment in international justice will unfold as the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague commences hearings on the Ukraine v. Russia case. Ukraine, steadfast in its commitment to upholding international law and seeking justice, filed a lawsuit to refute Russian accusations of genocide against the Russian-speaking population of Donbas. Furthermore, Ukraine aims to expose the use of these accusations as a pretext for Russia’s aggressive war against the country.

“The Court’s decision in favour of Ukraine will once again show whose side the truth is on and will create the groundwork for the formation of an International Tribunal for Putin and all those who joined the war against Ukraine,” declared Marta Barandiy, Chairwoman of Promote Ukraine, organiser of the event.

To mark this historic occasion, concerned citizens and supporters of Ukraine will gather in Brussels, opposite the Palace of Justice, to make a resounding statement – Russia must be held accountable for its actions. Organizers extend a special invitation to compatriots from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions who can provide firsthand testimony regarding the situation in Donbas, asserting that the real perpetrator of genocide in the region is none other than Russia.

Participants are encouraged to bring posters and make their voices heard during the demonstration. The event is expected to last for one hour.

“We are eagerly awaiting the participation of each and every individual who values justice and seeks to stand by Ukraine in its quest for truth and accountability. Join us at this symbolic location, opposite the Palace of Justice in Brussels, and let our collective voice echo around the world,” urged Marta Barandiy.

This case represents not only a pursuit of justice for Ukraine but also a significant moment in the global commitment to upholding international law and ensuring accountability for those who violate it.
