High Representative Josep Borrell will travel to Capri on 17-19 April to participate in the first fully-fledged G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting under the Italian Presidency this year. The participants will discuss a number of major foreign policy issues as well as global challenges in security, development and connectivity.
On Thursday 18 April, High Representative Borrell will deliver a doorstep at 8:30 CEST, which will be broadcasted on EbS.
Following a kick-off session [in the evening of 17 April] on stepping up engagement with global partners, on Thursday High Representative Borrell will participate in G7 discussions on the situation in the Middle East and the Red Sea, as well as on Russia’s continued war of aggression against Ukraine.
On the same day, together with representatives from the African Union, G7 Foreign Ministers will address security challenges in the Sahel region and the partnership with Africa.
G7 Foreign Ministers will then hold a discussion on ensuring continued support to Ukraine, in the presence of the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba and NATO Secretary-General, Jens Stoltenberg.
On Friday 19 April, discussions will continue with a focus on the Indo-Pacific region, as well as on issues related to global connectivity, economic development and democratic resilience.
In the margins of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting, the High Representative will also hold a series of bilateral meetings.
